Try the empty lot just west of the spawn. I think its next to the maze. It'd need to be leveled and made into a plot first though. It's the spot right between spongebob's left foot and the houses further down.

Headquarters can be sorted, just need to find a good location

It would need to be very close to spawn, if not in it, and there would have to be signs leading to the HQ otherwise the newbies might get a bit lost :)

won't the problem of 'can a guide help me' just be replaced with 'where's the guide HQ'? Also - how would a guide know when someone is at the HQ for them to go and help them?

Yeah the rank of guide is a special one. Its a trial on the server and it seems like the new people like it.
The guides can hav a /home in the HQ so they can check for new people. I want the guides to have a place where they can start a tour of the server and a place that isnt as hectic as the spawn can be in times. Maybey ther is a room with some Q&A for frequently asked questions but we have that already at the spawn. But i see it as a easy recognizable and easy to remember spot where new people can go to to find a guide who is avalable. It wouldnt be a place where guides wait or where new people "ring" a guide. Just a spot so that everybody knows if i need help i go to the guide HQ and there i can wait or find a guide wandering. Or there can i find some info about some stuff

Maybe have a prompt when you first join the server., like when you have mail and computer keeps saying /mail read?
Perhaps add /helpguide instead of /helpop? Also,

love the helpguide command idea but i would just make it /guide and indeed get a first join message with do /guide for assistance around the server

Perhaps add /helpguide instead of /helpop? Also, we had a plugin like this called "read the rules" however it caused severe lag on the server because of how it worked. regarding Q&A's, we have our FAQ system, so we can just add more messages to that.

i would love to be a guide as i have been on this server a long time now and i hate it when new people join after seeing our posts and have no clue of what to do. i would love o help solve this problem by becoming guide and helping them get through the first 10 minutes on the server. i can also try and improve the posts on the forums by adding what to do when you first join and stuff like that i think that i could also try and put a FAQ Section on the forum post as it would help out alot.

I know the basic rules of MC Servers but I quite enjoyed going through the rules because of how they weren't just signs ^_^ I may of even of went through them a second time <_< Anyway, from what I've seen the Guides seem to be a good idea and are working well. I've noticed in the past (being before this new rank) that the mods were having to do both rules (in today's terms) of guide and mods, and that they could very easily get overwhelmed and things could start to back up or people wouldn't get answers as fast as they want (need to learn to be patient) so I think this is a great idea with good potential and that's probably why you did it anyway. Also an HQ could be cool because you could have some signs showing who are the current Guides, etc

I still think guides should have some power to get things wged for people. Why you ask the thing is new comers want to start fast on their own plot on the server. so admins and mods are busy all the time to protect newcomers plots. that time is to be spend and the person may or may not be coming back to the server. I think mods and adminst should take care more of the problems and special wgs and leave the guides to do the basic wging. With this the admins and mods have more time to run cake defence and ban people to keep te server a fun place to stay.

But then they would have basically all commands that mods have apart from ban and rank. with this in place i think that mods/admins would have hardly anything to do as lots of people abide by the rules plus they have hardly any griefs to check out.
